Karaka Bay Homestay & Fishing Charters

Karaka Bay is a truly unique escape from the daily grind. Whether youre after a relaxing weekend in the stunningly beautiful Pelorus Sound, a fishing adventure to remember, or both, Karaka Bay has it all.

We offer Fishing Charters, Homestay Accommodation or a combination of both.  Our boat Alibi is berthed at the marina in Havelock, the gateway to the Pelorus Sound.  Havelock is a thirty minute scenic drive from Picton which is in the Queen Charlotte Sound Our 'Fishing Charter' option specialises in catering for families and small social groups of up to 6 people. Gear is provided but were happy for you to bring your lucky rod. Morning and afternoon teas also provided.  A day out fishing the Pelorus Sound is an unforgettable experience.  Leaving from Havelock in our comfortable 9.5 metre boat, Alibi, we will journey to various secret spots throughout the Sound.

To enjoy our 'Fishing plus Homestay' option jump on board our fishing- friendly boat, Alibi, for a true fishing adventure.  Once you have your catch well head back to Karaka Bay Bach for some rest and relaxation. Put your feet up while we cook your fresh catch for dinner. After a good nights sleep and a leisurely breakfast well then take you back to Havelock where you can tell your fishing tale.  Guest accommodation comprises one bedroom with queen size bed and one bedroom with queen size bed and bunk set.  A single bed is available also for either of these rooms.  Bathroom between these rooms and a private deck just outside.  If you would like to stay another day and enjoy what Karaka Bay has to offer then it would be our pleasure to look after you.

If fishing isn't your thing then you are very welcome to come and stay with us.  There is plenty to occupy you here. Paddle the calm and sheltered waters of Karaka Bay or venture further into Yncyca Bay, in our two kayaks available for your use.  In the summer months take to the water with our snorkelling gear and watch as the kids (or the young at heart) dive and bomb off the jetty. There are also plenty of walking tracks to choose from, take a stroll through native bush, a brisk walk through the pine fores or walk the well maintained open track; either way the amazing views of the Pelorus Sound will impress. For those rainy days when the thought of venturing outside is too much there are plenty of books and games as well as a cozy fire to sit by.

Tariff includes everything - fishing gear, dinner, bed, breakfast, lunch, snacks, morning and afternoon teas, refreshments and boat transport.
